Don't Fold Under The Pressure...Pressure always moves from higher to lower spaces and the pressure inside your chest and abdomen is higher than the pressure outside of it. We control the pressure changes with breathing, but sometimes it pushes out in places we would prefer it didn't by finding weak spots and causing hernias and hemorrhoids. When weightlifting, moving a heavy object, or even straining with a bowel movement if you are constipated, make sure to exhale instead of holding your breath. When lifting weights, exhale on the positive movement, which is when you are lifting against gravity or against the machine. This is the best way to keep the pressure from trying to create new exits in inconvenient locations on your body.
