Seeking Good Health...We are all looking for the best, fastest and easiest way to get and stay healthy. It can seem like a daunting challenge to lose weight, improve your cholesterol, or lower your blood pressure. Some of my patients admit that they dread office visits because they know they still have not followed the advice given on the previous visits. To that my response is alway the same. Don't give up and keep working at it. You don't have to do it all at once. It may even take a few years to address several health concerns and improve your response to them. Medications are always a faster and easier option, not not necessarily always the best one.
One quick tip you can do for each of the above:
Lose Weight - Cut the pasta, bread, rice and potatoes at 3-5 dinners a week. Stick with a protein like fish, lean meat, chicken or turkey and add vegetables.
Improve Your Cholesterol - Cut the cheese down to one meal a day and avoid it altogether 2 days a week.
Lower Your Blood Pressure - Lower your sodium intake by avoiding soups and sauces whenever you can. They all have loads of salt.
So stay positive and ambitious! Eventually your efforts will chip away at the problems and make a real difference in your long term health. We can use your office visits to reinforce your efforts, monitor and commend you on any helpful changes, and figure out different ways to move forward to keep you healthy.
